Immediately prior to becoming IFCC President he was the\u00a0Clinical Lead for the multi-site network Department of Clinical\u00a0Biochemistry in North Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom (UK).<\/p>\n<p>He received his BSc and PhD degrees from the University of\u00a0Liverpool in the late 1960s. After postdoctoral study he moved to\u00a0Glasgow in 1972 as a University lecturer and became an employee in\u00a0the National Health Service (NHS) as the rapid expansion of\u00a0clinical chemistry practice required experienced leaders.
